Deb Soule, the president of Avena Botanicals, is an accomplished herbalist, teacher, author and medicine-maker. Her book, A Woman's Book of Herbs: The Healing Power of Natural Remedies is sold worldwide. Deb is committed to helping improve the quality of women's health and believes that herbs are valuable allies in our longing to enrich our lives. She believes that relearning herbal wisdom connects us to the women throughout the ages who have used plants for medicine. "Making relationships with plants and trees reunites us with Earth and reminds us to acknowledge the women who went before us and gathered the herbs on the land we now walk upon."

Our herbal apothecary and medicinal herb garden are nestled into a hillside bordering a 6000-acre wetland. On our 28-acre farm we are surrounded by an array of songbirds, deer, moose and other species of animal and plant life. Our gardens serve as a spectacular and tranquil setting for classes offered during the summer months. The garden is open to the public May through October. The herbal apothecary is open year-round.
