I am currently studying extramurally for a degree in women studies. My focus topic is "discrimination of single women in the workplace". I am having great difficulty in finding any readings or reference to research on this topic. If anyone were able to offer any leads or guidance, I would be most grateful. Thanks for your time. - Liz

Thanks for your note to FEMINIST.COM--and for exploring a still prevalent problem: "discrimination of single women in the workplace." The best writings I have seen on this are by Arlie Hochschild, who has written two books including the Second Shift and numerous articles on the topic. You also might want to contact Working Woman, Working Mother and Ms. Magazine for past articles they have done on this topic. Also, The Tyranny of Kindness by Theresa Funiciello.

P.S. As the daughter of a single mother--I know that this is a serious problem.
