I am needing some visual aids to demonstrate the need for additional shelters for women & their children. I would like to open a shelter in Arizona but if folks can't "see" it they think it's not a problem. Any photos that brings this issue into the light would assist my project. If the right folks see this project then we can continue and open another shelter for women & children. Thanks for any assistance you may give, Kat

I'm not sure whether you are looking for shelters in general or specifically domestic violence shelters. If it is the latter, you should pick up Donna Ferato's book Living with the Enemy, which is complete with photographs of first hand accounts of domestic violence in the home. These photos are also available in the 1994 Sept./Oct. issue of Ms. Magazine. Since October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, you should also contact the "Domestic Violence Awareness Month Project" about what they have available in terms of visuals. Ask them specifically about the material available through the Family Violence Prevention Fund. If this is not what you had in mind, please let me know and I will see what else I can come up with.
