Violence

I have to give a speech in my public speaking class, and I chose to do it on physical abuse in relationships. I don't know if you would be able to help me, but if you are, could you please send me info or statistics that could use, or if you know where I can get this info from, please help me. Thanks.

Thanks for your note to FEMINIST.COM For statistics on violence, including physical abuse, you should check out the information about V-Day here at the site. There you will find statistics for your report. You could also contact your local police department to find more local statistics and/or a local battered women's shelter. To find one near you, you can do a search through the database at FEMINIST.COM. You might also check out our section of Violence Against Women links.

The only statistic that I know off the top of my head is that one in four girls and one in seven boys are sexually abused before they reach the age of 18.

Good luck with your presentation and thanks for helping to raise awareness about the prevalence of violence in our country.
