I can't remember which international country this was in... but I saw on "20/20" about a year ago that a certain country performed female circumcision on five-year-old girls with no anesthetic. This information filled me with rage!! I want to do all that I can to help. Which country is this and what is being done about this? Thank you, Susan

Thanks for your note to FEMINIST.COM--and, unfortunately, there are many countries in which women undergo female genital mutilation, also known as circumcision. For instance, Egypt, Mali, Ghana, Nigeria--and many other West African countries. It has also happened in the United States and in Europe. There is a great group--Equality NOW, which does a lot of work on this issue. We also have links on FGM in our Violence Against Women section for more information and resources. I hope that helps
