Hello, My name is Jennifer and I am doing a research project on Chemical castration for child molesters. Do you have any information that would pertain to this subject? I would appreciate your input on this. Thank you.

Thanks for your note and for your research project which will hopefully bring us closer to giving the attention that we need to Child Abuse. It is a well-respected, but not yet well known fact, that one in seven boys are sexually molested before the age of 18 and one in four girls. Yet, we don't seem to be dealing with it at all--and therefore, we don't get to the root of the problem.

About Chemical castration, I don't have any direct sources, but I would suggest that you contact The Center for Trauma and Dissociation, 4400 East Iliff Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80222; #1-800-441-6921. They may be able to point you in the right direction. I do know that a Scandanavian country practiced some form of castration for child molesters, but are now reversing that decision because it hasn't proven to help. I have to say that I agree on this reversal. Child abuse of any form is about power and control--i.e. from the head--and rarely is it purely about sexual energy.
