I am writing a paper arguing whether or not Madonna is a feminist. It is all up to me which way I choose to go, but I can't even begin to decide. How do you actually define feminist? I know she stands up for women (or maybe just herself), but she doesn't actually do it under the title of women's rights. What do you think? Thanks, Jessica

Thanks for your note. I certainly think that Madonna is a feminist -- she both lives her life free from restrictions/stereotypes and helps other women to do the same. She believes in the potential of all individuals and helps put resources out there so people can act on those instincts.
