Hi, I'm a female Mexican student looking for a scholarship to study English as a second language in USA. I'm 27-years-old. I studied Spanish literature at National University of Mexico (UNAM). I hope that you can help me. Thanks for your information - Lorena

Here are some suggestions for scholarships:

  • Third Wave Foundation awards scholarships to activists women under the age of 30. Learn more at: www.thirdwavefoundation.org.
  • The Astraea National Lesbian Action Foundation also provides scholarships to young women. Write to them: 116 East 16th Street, 7th Floor, NY, NY 10003
  • The Coca Cola Foundation offers many scholarships - and most are focused on people of color. Contact them to learn more.
  • The Foundation Center - which is based in New York City and a few other cities, lists many funding areas, including scholarships. I'm sure they will have some classified specifically for foreign students.
  • Another option is to actually apply to a university and seek financial aid from them.

Good luck and I hope this information helps you in your pursuit to study English in America.
