I am a college student in Baltimore, Maryland. I am currently in the process of starting a marketing project on the evolution of advertising due to the increasing role of women in the marketplace. I would be very grateful if you could give me any information that would be useful in aiding me complete my project. Thank you for your help. Yours faithfully, Kanwal

Thank you for your note and good luck on your marketing project. For starters, I would contact Advertising Women of New York (212-593-1950) -- this is a loose network of women working in this business--I'm hopefully that because of this network they may have some of the information you need. Also, check out books and/or articles by Nancy Cott--I think that she tackles this issue in some of her writings.

I hope that you also look at the disservice the advertising industry has done to women. The best examples of this are available in Gloria Steinem's article: Sex, Lies and Advertising. I hope the above is helpful.
