Can you give me any leads pertaining to sources of the representation of women in advertising (images of women over the past thirty years)? Thank you. - Kelly

As for direct images, any magazine can give you images of women. As for why these images are always different than the reality of most women, you should read Gloria Steinem's article, Sex, Lies and Advertising, available in her book Moving Beyond Words. Naomi Wolf's book, The Beauty Myth, is another source. There is also an organization in New York City called Advertising Women of New York, they should have information. (153 East 57th Street, New York, New York 10022; #212-593-1950).

Good luck and sorry that I couldn't be of further assistance.
