Can you give me information on International Women's Day Week this March? Thanx, D. Kreps

Thanks for your note to Feminist.com. International Women's Day is March 8th--I'm not sure of the origin of it, but assume that it was initiated by an international women's group--or even the United Nations. Given that, the best places to go for information about what is being planned for that day is to contact UNIFEM (the women's group within the United Nations: 304 E. 45th Street, 6th Floor New York, NY 10017; (212) 906-6400 fax (212) 906-6705) or international women's groups. To start, I would contact the Women's Environment and Development Organization (WEDO) and The International Women's Tribune Center--both located in NYC; or The Global Fund for Women, located in Menlo Park, CA.

Personally, I think it should be a day to celebrate women and our accomplishments. In that vein, I hope you spend the day doing just that.
