I am a second year law student at Tulane and I was wondering where I can find any bills proposed by the President with regards to the Pay Equity issue/Comparable Worth Bill? Sincerely, Chika Ojiaku

Thanks for your note to FEMINIST.COM. Just about two weeks ago President Clinton proposed spending $27 millon on trying to close the wage gap. This plan would commit $10 million to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to train inspectors and educate employers on the equal pay laws. It would commit an additional $17 million to the Department of Labor for programs to train women in jobs where they have been underrepresented such as high tech.

You can learn more about this effort and others from White House Office on Women.

Specific to pay equity you can also contact the EEOC and the Department of Labor. Also try: Understanding the Issue, and the National Committee on Pay Equity.
