Reproductive Rights

I'm a male (sorry) from New York and I feel offended that people are taking your rights away. I'm 100% pro-choice and would like to ask you for a favor - I would like to know if you could send me any info on groups I could join. I know I don't have a choice if a woman gets an abortion but I know it's their choice.

Thanks for your note to FEMINIST.COM. First, you don't have to "apologize" for being male. The point of feminism is not to alienate half of the population--it's about working together toward equality on both sides--so thanks for helping in that endeavor. Since "choice" seems to be your main issue, I suggest that you contact "choice" focused groups to find information about getting more involved. For instance:

  1. NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League)--their national office is in Washington, DC and they have state and local chapters across the U.S.
  2. Planned Parenthood Federation of American -- ditto to above.
  3. Voters for Choice-based in Washington, DC.
You can find links to these places, along with others, in our Reproductive Rights section. Also, I recommend that you check-out our Pro-Feminist Men's section which can put you in touch with men's groups working on feminist issues. (These aren't the in-the-woods-drum-beating groups.) Good luck/thanks.
