RE: Marie Claire article of April 1998 on Afghanistan. I am beside myself after reading the article of the treatment of women in Afghanistan. I can hardly believe that I live on the same planet as these oppressed women. Our government is quick to jump on the "oil bandwagon", but where is our commitment to basic human rights? I support any effort that your organization might provide in helping these women. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do on their behalf.

Thank you for your note to Feminist.com and for speaking up against what is happening in Afghanistan. From what I have heard this is starting to ripple down into Pakistan. So hopefully with enough action from this end, we can stop it before it goes even further. To find out what to do, we have action suggestions at Feminist.com.

To learn more about how to help women suffering in Afghanistan, you should also contact Equality Now . They will certainly be able to give you tips on how you can help this situation. Thank you for your efforts towards ending this suffering.
