Hello,

My name is Arturo and I have recently been getting very physical with my girlfriend. As we have gone further I have noticed that she does not feel any vaginal stimulation, I fear that she was a victim of FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) when she was a child in her native country of Albania. I wish to know how and if it is possible to reverse this. Also is there any clear way of telling if its FGM?

There are many versions of FGM, such as removing the clitoris or sewing up parts of the labia, most of which should be noticeable, and she should be able to communicate this to you.

If you are drawing this conclusion solely because she isn't aroused, there are likely to be other issues other than FGM. If it was the latter, it would be more painful, but the absence of anything is more likely that it's a mental block rather than a physical one.

Good luck,

-- Amy
