I need help. Let me begin. I am eighteen years old and have gone between anorexia and bulimia for the last 6 years. Just recently, I went on another binge. It scared me. There was a lot of blood in the vomit (which I have had before - but I haven't binged in two months, and didn't expect it) and also my nose started to bleed- this has never happened before. Also, after I was done, I could barely get up. I felt so sick, and my heart was racing.

Please, Amy, tell me what is happening to my body. In my six years of ED, I have never felt this bad in my life. I want to know if this is something I should really be concerned about, or if I should just let it go.

Yes, I was in counseling, but it did nothing and it wasn't for eating. So, if you can Amy, please get back to me A.S.A.P. Thank you very much. - Sassy

I'm not sure where you are writing from (I'm in New York City), but I want to encourage you to go see a doctor immediately. A couple of things could be happening--and a doctor is the one who can tell you for sure. It sounds like you are putting so much stress on your insides that you making them bleed. Also, if you haven't been eating, you probably don't have anything to throw up besides blood.

In addition to getting this immediate attention, I hope that you will consider longer term support. Eating disorders are often more psychological than physiological--so I hope that you will investigate. Please write back if you need help finding a doctor and/or just want to talk. Take care of yourself - Amy

P.S. I love "Sassy"--because it implies such strength and attitude--now you have to nourish yourself to live up to it.
