I am a graduate student at Abilene Christian University. I am currently conducting research on eating disorders amongst African American women. If you are aware of any sources that could be used in my research I would appreciate your help - Belinda

Two articles/essays immediately come to mind that could help you with your report -- one is about 5 years old and comes from Essence magazine. It covers this exact topic -- and specifically how for years eating disorders were seen primarily as a white woman's problem, but over the years, the rate of eating disorders among black women has surged. The other sources is a book called Body Outlaws, which has at least one article that deals with exactly this issue. Also, I think that Linda Villarosa's book on women's health has some information on this as well.
