As for the current status of the ERA, unfortunately, in the mid-1980s, due to blockage by right wing advocates, it never received the full support that it needed so it never passed nationally. However, a few states have passed their own state-wide versions. In this election cycle I know that Iowa passed one. You should contact the League of Women Voters or the National Organization for Women in that state to find out how it will be implemented. Also the Feminist Majority has information.
