My name is Brina, and I am a junior at the University of Iowa. This semester I am enrolled in a feminist theory course and for a term paper I am supposed to write about a feminist. Being Jewish I would like to write about a Jewish feminist, a woman who discusses the reintroduction of women to Judaism. If you have any resources I would appreciate them. Thanks, Brina

Thanks for your note to FEMINIST.COM. I have a few suggestions that might help with your report. For instance,

1.) There is Esther Broner (aka EM Broner), a poet and spiritualist. She also wrote The Telling -- about women and the Jewish Seder. She actually rewrote the Haggadah (sp?), and that revision is included in that book.

2.) There is a reference book/anthology called Jewish Women in America and it's put out by Carlson Publishing in New York.

3.) Letty Cottin Pogrebin is a famous feminist who was a founder of Ms. Magazine. Most of her writing incorporates her judaism and as an activist she is very involved in women's role in Judaism.

I hope that helps. Good luck to you - Amy
