Feminism

I hope you can help me. I am in the process of writing a book on feminism and would like to write a chapter on the ways different religious belief systems view women. I have searched the bookstore and the internet but cannot find what I'm looking for. Do you know of any books or websites that could give me this information? I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me.

Sincerely,

Tiffany

Dear Tiffany,

Thanks for your note to feminist.com and here are a few resources that might help you:

  1. Catholics for a Free Choice -- has done a good job of uprooting the pro-woman, anti-gay, etc... pieces of Catholicism.
  2. Karen Armstrong -- author of many books on many religions, including a a biography of Mohammed that uncovers the pro-woman components of that religion.
  3. The Auburn Theological Seminiary has conducted lots of research on this.
  4. A great book called Women Imagine Change -- an anthology with a few writings specifically on religion and women.

There is certainly lots out there.

Good luck,

-- Amy
