I hope you can help me. I am in the process of writing a book on feminism and would like to write a chapter on the ways different religious belief systems view women. I have searched the bookstore and the internet but cannot find what I'm looking for. Do you know of any books or websites that could give me this information? Thanks for your note to feminist.com and here are a few resources that might help you:

1. Catholics for a Free Choice -- has done a good job of uprooting the pro-woman, anti-gay, etc... pieces of Catholicism.
2. Karen Armstrong -- author of many books on many religions, including a a biography of Mohammed that uncovers the pro-woman components of that religion.
3. The Auburn Theological Seminiary has conducted lots of research on this.
4. A great book called Women Imagine Change -- an anthology with a few writings specifically on religion and women.

There is certainly lots out there.
