Feminism

Hi,

I'm new to feminism and I have alot to learn. I really want to become smart with it and be able to know a degree of information. I'm embarrassed to ask you but what does the third wave mean? I've read it many times but i dont want to ask any of my friends because they would make me feel kind of dumb. But please if you could answer that I thank you very much, and thank you for taking time to at least read my e-mail. I just want to learn as much as I can so I can help out with my share.

Tara

Dear Tara,

Thanks for your note to Feminist.com.

There is certainly no need to be embarassed about not knowing what Third Wave feminism is and in all honesty, it means something different to each person. In general, it is just feminism today, roughtly anyone born after 1965 grew up a feminist influenced time. It's also about younger women's orientation to feminism -- it's about ensuring that a consciouness change goes hand-in-hand with a political revolution. It's just feminism for this generation or for younger women. Does that help? Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks,

-- Amy
