"Changing the world for the better takes passion, dedication, information, resources, timeliness and mutual support. Today's activists need to access all that faster than ever before, so Feminist.com puts it at our fingertips."
- Gloria Steinem

Dear Friends,

December 2005 marks the 10-year anniversary of Feminist.com, a thriving online community and definitive hub of resources and information dedicated to women's equality, justice, wellness and safety. Like a "feminist Google," Feminist.com facilitates connections between women and the many, varied organizations serving their needs and interests worldwide. As a library, a promoter of activism, a networking engine, and an Internet "home" for women all over the world, Feminist.com advances women-friendly organizations, increases civic involvement, and promotes self-sufficiency, spiritual health and general wellness - always in keeping with the spirit of its mission of "Awareness, Education, Activism and Empowerment."

Over the last decade, Feminist.com has provided millions of visitors with quality news, original articles, anti-violence resources, and the critically acclaimed "Ask Amy" column by noted author and activist Amy Richards, with advice and information on issues impacting women and girls. Women all over the world are actively connecting to information, organizations and each other, through the useful and varied links, activism alerts, event listings, and women-owned business listings offered at the site.

The site was created and has been developed and maintained over this past decade by a small, idealistic, and dedicated band of volunteers and like-minded individuals and organizations. We were pioneers in 1995 - a time when very few organizations, especially women's organizations, had web sites. Feminist.com provided a pro bono web presence, a "home," for numerous leading women's organizations that lacked their own web presence, including Equality Now, Girls Inc., the Ms. Foundation for Women, RAINN, and V-Day, among others. Ten years later, we are still offering many organizations this critical assistance.

Feminist.com:

  • welcomes more than 75,000 visitors each month from all over the world
  • is linked to by tens of thousands of sites and search engines
  • has won countless awards for its comprehensive content and resources
  • has been reported on extensively in national publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Ms. Magazine for its dedication to promoting and sustaining women's well-being

"Feminist.com is a priceless resource of feminist news and networking, a boon to the movement and those who toil within it."
- Debra Baker Beck, Communication Committee Chairperson, National Women's Studies Association

Feminist.com assists its visitors in finding the causes, issues and organizations that resonate with them, leveraging the massive potential of the Internet to connect, educate, and empower. It is not aligned with one organization or agenda, but works in collaboration with many groups, fostering communication and cooperation, and connecting individuals from all over the world with organizations, resources, and each other.

While our services and resources are too numerous to list, some of our most recent additions include:

Men's Voices, Men as Allies, a series of articles by Men Can Stop Rape, an organization committed to mobilizing male youth to prevent men's violence against women.

Speeches from the Omega & V-Day "Women & Power" Conference, featuring keynote speeches and interviews by Jane Fonda, Gloria Steinem, Sister Joan Chittister, Johnnetta Cole, Iyanla Vanzant and Marion Woodman.

Advancing Women's Leadership, a series by Marie C. Wilson, president of The White House Project and author of "Closing the Leadership Gap: Why Women Can and Must Help Run the World."

All of us at Feminist.com are amazed at how much we have been able to accomplish with scarce resources. But we have reached the point where we cannot continue on volunteer efforts alone. We need your support to continue to serve our constituencies and to help sustain a vital community for both women and men.

Feminist.com has helped better people's lives, and the lives of those around them. We feel proud of our role in creating positive change in the world. And we are humbled by all the work yet to be done. As we celebrate our first 10 years and look forward to the next 10, we are reaching out to those who have availed themselves of our many resources and services, as well as long-time and new friends, for financial support.

Please give as generously as you can. Now, more than ever, we need your help. Just click here to make your tax-deductible donation or mail your check (made out to the Feminist.com Foundation) to Feminist.com, P.O. Box 668, Woodstock, NY 12498.

Wishing you a joyous holiday season and a fulfilling year ahead, I am

Sincerely yours,

Marianne Schnall, President
